Porcellio ornatus. SO MUCH TO SAY. The patterns are amazing. The yellow on black contrast is CRISP. They're so oddly shaped. Ornatus look like little long racecar pods. Best part, they're so active! They're always out looking for their protein fix. A definite must-have.
Size - Adults reach up to 2.5cm.
Difficulty - [4/5] - Good for experienced keepers. These are considered beginner-friendly in temperate countries, but they are a different story in the tropics. If you have not yet successfully kept an assortment of Porcellios and Armadillidiums, save Porcellio ornatus for a later year.
Special Care - Keep drier than usual - water only a corner of the enclosure. Aim for a moist corner that's 10-15% of the total enclosure. Keep the rest dry and well ventilated. These will breed readily in a basic isopod setup with lots of ventilation.
Cultures are sent in mixed sizes (juvies to subadults)
